PE Game Plan
Any successful program needs a vision, a dream, a game plan of how to get things accomplished. This page is designated towards helping you achieve just that. I have developed the 4 E's to what I believe must take place to builds a strong Health and Physical Education program (or any Educational program for that matter). Within this section you will find a living document of ideas, thoughts, and resources that can help you tailor your own PE Game Plan!

Environment
It is vital to create and build a learning environment that is positive, supportive, and safe for everyone. Students need to have their needs met before they can begin to meet the needs and expectations you set for them. The atmosphere should be filled with inspiration (visuals, posters, motivational resources) and anything that they can begin to positively absorb as soon as they enter your room/gym. The setting you create should sustain itself as the school year progresses even when new students leave/arrive, and when you are out for whatever reason. Building a positive and meaningful environment takes time, effort, and a lot of repetition, however there is no better reward than seeing students interact and engage as they reach their true potential as learners. It is our responsibility to provide them a shelter to do just that!
Solid ways to help build and enhance your environment:
Decorate your classes/gyms with positive themes, posters, expectations, and signs that reiterate your message that students will be safe and are expected to grow stronger/smarter/braver every time they enter and leave.
Create consistent and meaningful routines that students can begin to develop into classroom habits.
Select groups of diverse learners within squads, partner/small group/large group activities and adjust them accordingly once you learn more about your students.
Observe trends in student behaviors (both negative and positive) when they are around each other and make necessary changes to keep physical, emotional, and mental safety the top priority.
Allow students to begin to develop and grow their problem-solving skills through conflict resolutions (RPS, conflict corners, class meetings).
Involve them in being part of the decision-making when it comes to behavior plans, individual/class rewards, and anything else that makes them accountable for their actions.

Energy
Zap! Boom! Pow! Ka-Chow! That is the type of energy we need in our classes. It all starts with our approach to learning and how we engage our students. We must make our positive, vibrant energy as contagious as possible so students can experience how powerful exercise actually is. As the students enter your room, they can feel the energy you are giving off and the lesson has begun far before you started actually teaching. Positive, engaging, and meaningful energy reflects off the environment you created. In order to bring your lessons to life, you must be alive yourself.
You must have your finger on the pulse of your class and strive to create one heartbeat!
Ask yourself some of these questions:
Do your warm-up activities engage and lock the learners in from the start?
Are your lessons carefully constructed so they create powerful and dynamic ideas that students fully engage in?
Does the sequence and pacing of your lessons allow for positive energy to be transferred from one activity to the next?
Do you offer enough variety and mystery within your classes to spark interest from all students?
When you notice a drop in energy or a lack of interest, how do you re-spark your students?
Can you notice your students' body language, verbal tones/inflections, and cues?
Are students leaving more vibrant and connected to the purpose of your class?

Essentials
Every surgeon needs their scalpel, every chef needs their spatula, and every writer needs their pen. If only it were that simple for teachers! Those other professions need so much more as well, however when they are immersed in their passion, sometimes a single tool is all it takes. The same thing holds true for teachers. Teachers need pens, binders, folders, charts, and a plethora of office supplies. At the end of the day, a quality teacher's main tool is Love! A love for their profession, a love for their students, and most importantly a love of making an ever-lasting impact on the world!
As a Health and Physical Educator, I have learned through trial and error and sometimes luck the essential resources that I rely on to help me reach my goals. I could never succeed without the following:

What kind of program do you want to create?
How are you going to make yourself irreplaceable?
What do you want your Teaching Legacy to be when it is all said and done?
These are questions that the Best of the Best ask themselves. They get the big picture of education and understand the importance of leaving a strong impact.
I heard a quote that resonates with me when it comes to education, but more importantly life. It went something like:
"Do not let your life be like a shooting star, which lights up the sky for only a brief moment. Let your life be like the sun which always burns brightly in the heavens, bringing light and warmth to all those on earth. Let your light shine."
You have the ability to decide on what enhancements you are going to focus on to become "the sun" as an educator and more importantly in your life.
These are some quality ideas to help you become that sun for your students and for your school:

Eisenhower's Task Matrix
I came across the concept created and used by our 34th President, Dwight D. Eisenhower to help him make decisions and lead our country.
I immediately applied it to the world of education and have found it to be extremely useful when it comes to formulating and executing a solid teaching game plan and more importantly a life plan!
Being a teacher isn't just about teaching and students learning. It is about lesson plans, meetings, phone calls, emails, program adaptations, collaborations, observations, and professional growth. There is no map or set way to attack each day, however this chart will help you filter your thoughts/actions and help you prioritize anything and everything.
I highly recommend giving it a try in and out of the classroom to help you towards finding calmness in a world of chaos, more importantly in maximizing your time and life energy.
