The Crazy Clark's have been having an amazing summer (sorry for a little blog hiatus), but with all of our summer excitement, lately we have paid a price.
We haven't been having the best sleep. It's most likely due to a hectic summer schedule, a new environment for the past couple of weeks, and a handful of other kid induced variables! (All of a sudden our kids are scared of zombies in the middle of the night!) The other night I suddenly awoke at 2:30 and couldn't drift back to sleep using my normal go-to of the 4-7-8 breathing method (I highly recommend giving it a try) so I decided to turn my phone back on (I shut it off right before bed) to see what was going on in my digital world. My wife must have sent me an email right before I shut my phone off titled, "Parents who are addicted to their cell phones affect their children's development." I had nothing else to do so I opened it up to be enlightened. Wow! I never really made the connection of cell phone usage as second hand smoking, but to our children's brains. Really makes you think about every little aspect of parenting. Technology is an amazing gift to our world, but it also comes with a hefty price sometimes. Just like being on a constant summer adventure! Kind of ironic that I am on the computer now and that you might be reading it! In any case, I hope you gained something from The Article and I am now signing off to go deep into the woods to kayak with no technology. I recommend you put your technology down and escape for a little as well! Wish us luck on our kayaking adventure and hopefully there won't be anything else that will cause our kids to wake in the middle of the night!
